It all began back in 2005...

Glenn Jakins was opening his refrigerator after walking past his wife's ongoing scrapbook mess in the living room. For at least 1 week out of every month, his wife would take out all the albums and photos and update all 4 children's journals. As he opened the refrigerator, he cried "Eureka!"

In October 2001, Glenn Jakins started his own import company from his basement in Provo, Utah. He had spent previous years in sales and manufacturing of personal leather goods in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Within 2 years of starting EGI, Darin Davis had joined Glenn in his company, Ensign Group International (E.G.I.) as an owner, to develop new sales channels. As the Company grew, they produced different products for their several clients. For one particular project, they manufactured furniture to furnish some 400 student apartments. They also produced many scrapbooking items for national scrapbooking brands. It seemed natural to somehow produce a "Scrapbooking Furniture" item.

Glenn took his Eureka moment and organized focus groups to get input on his new idea. Darin Davis helped run the focus groups. Together they gathered the very best ideas from the focus groups. Using the large storage door from the refrigerator concept, the ScrapBox was born.

Within 3 months they had produce 5 ScrapBoxes and presold every one.

They then developed through the help of Garth Hubert, a flat-pack construction so they could ship anywhere in the country. They manufactured 50 in the USA and sold them in 3 months. They realized that it was time to cut their manufacturing costs by going to China. Within 6 months, they were selling several ScrapBoxes per day. Glenn turned his focus onto international distribution and sells several containers of product per month into Australia, Europe and the UK. He has also focused on new product development into existing and new channels. New products include the "Mini ScrapBox" - a desktop version of the ScrapBox, the "CraftBox" a slimmer version, and the EZ View Desk and Desktop - a desk with a see through top. Sales have been robust and continue to grow despite the current economy.
