We were downsizing, and I was leaving a huge fully stocked craft room and now needed a way to organize all my supplies for jewelry, scrapbooking , sewing and painting. I was looking into storage for it all and came upon the The original scrapbox online. I was amazed at how much it could hold. The reviews scared me a little, as I didn't want my husband to have to spend a lot of time putting it together, but after speaking with Customer Service a couple of times, they put me at ease that with my husbands construction experience, he would not have a hard time putting it together. We ordered it, and waited for the delivery. Weeks later, it was delivered in a large wooden crate. We had made room for it in the garage, and they put it in the space we provided. My Husband was able to put it together quite easily. Although there were some holes drilled in the wrong spot he was able to fix the problem. We ordered the Ultimate Sewing Box, and it has two short legs and two taller legs. Also, some of the shelves were cut 1/4" too long, and so I called CS and they quickly sent the needed two short legs, and in exchange for my husbands time to re-cut the shelves, I was given my choice of some accessories. I chose the ones I wanted and they were shipped along with the two shorter legs which we put on and it was finished. I organized my items so as to be most convenient when sewing and scrapbooking or making jewelry. It's perfect in our little 11x12 room. I was excited that it took some of the sting out of having to leave my huge craft room! The Customer Service really was top notch, and worked hard to keep me happy!
I love having the versatility in my ScrapBox of these trays!
Nice variety of sizes for different embellishments. Not so good for sequins due to the static, but most everything else is great in it.
I purchased the variety pack and am happy with them. They give me a nice place for storing all those tiny items like beads that are hard to store.
But if I could make the perfect version, it would be sturdier plastic with locking lids. These are useable but would give more peace of mind if they were sturdier and lockable.
Great for the small stuff!
I bought one stackable of each size. I love the variety--I have appropriately sized spaces now for everything, from seed beads and jewelry hardware to large wooden beads and small tools. I love having the organization to be able to separate buttons out by color instead of having them mixed together in a large container.
They are not made of the same material the totes are. It's a thinner plastic. They come with a lid that doesn't snap on and you have to secure it with a rubber band. I guess because of heat during storage, all my rubber bands were already degraded and broke as soon as I tried to put them on. I probably wouldn't have used them anyway because a tight rubber band seems like it would crease the lid.
I do have a fear of spilling these as I handle them, so I paired them with my 1" totes. I can set two stackables side by side if I give a little more height to the 1" tote shelves (I put mine at the top on either side of my center cabinet, pegs in the second hole from the top). When I use them, pull out the whole tote; I don't take the stackables out. It gives me more stability. If I get more stackables in the future, I'll probably get another set of 1" totes to go with them.
Stackable trays for my beading supplies
I was disappointed with the quality - I realize from a previous response that the cost would have been more if they were acrylic but these are very flimsy and was expecting something a little more substantial in quality for the price. The rubber bands are difficult to place (and will deteriorate over time) and the trays bend very easily when trying to place the bands on them. Uneasy about using them for loose beads because I feel they could spill the contents easily. Debating splurging on upgrading to the acrylic trays- I love my workbox!
Stackable plastic sorting trays
I was a little disappointed when they arrived because I was expecting hard plastic trays like the Work Box trays; and the rubber bands that hold the lids will degrade over time because that's what rubber bands do. With that being said, however, I love the versatility of the different size trays; I used some of the trays to sort and keep track of my jewelry and the rest to corral embellishments.
My jewelry "drawer" was such a mess; so disorganized. I couldn't remember what had or where it was. So I bought these trays and they work beautifully. I can see what I have and were it is. They stack wonderfully. They are not flimsy and it's great to have lids to keep dust off and hopefully keep my silver jewelry from needing to be polished as often. I think the price is good too.
