I really love the design and dedicated storage space, but honestly, the execution was sorely lacking. I just finished assembling and I must say, not only were the instructions were vague and misleading in more than one instance, but:
-More than a few screw guide holes were in the wrong place (mainly on the middle slide out tray itself, as well as the tray rail spots on both the right and left bases).
-The only drawer that required assembly was completely missing rail guide holes on one whole side, so I had to measure and mark the holes myself to match the other side.
-Neither of the magnetic closures for the right and left doors align properly. The metal plate for the magnet on the left base was attached the wrong direction and had to be flipped around, yet it still doesn’t quite match up to the magnet, so the door just hangs open a bit.
-A couple more nit-picky things: why did 4/5 drawers come already assembled, but one I had to do myself? I feel like it should be all or none, but whatever. Also, the sheer weight of the doors (without anything stored in them) is completely supported by the hinge alone. I foresee this being a major problem in the future, especially if you store bottles of paint in the door. They should be equipped with a small castor wheel on the corner as well, similar to the left side pull out storage, to help support the weight over time.
All in all, I’m honestly pretty disappointed in these execution flaws, but I guess I’m just going to have to live with it. Seeing as this desk cost me $1,200 and 8 hours of work to complete, it seems as though a return isn’t even worth the effort.
However, I’m still holding out hope that the design and storage organization makes up for these flaws after I fill the desk with my supplies. I guess we will see.
I do have some strong recommendations about assembling it.
The hardware should be labeled, each bag, and there were several omissions in the instructions. I got it, but it would’ve went quicker and with less uncertainty if these things were corrected..
I have the EZ view 3.0 desk and purchased Jan 2019. I love it as it's tall enough to stand and do my memory books, wrap presents, or just create something without sitting so long. Just love the height of this as I am 5ft 3in tall and it's perfect. I would recommend 1st do what I did. Look at the height of the product and see where it hits you when standing to see if that works for you. That's what I did. It is awesome. I too had trouble with the left hand side where the drawer does not pull out wide enough to get everything out and my husband tried to adjust the railings but gave up. so I do the same thing most people do. Just move things out of the way and get what I need. No problem. I thought my hubby did a good job putting it together as he said the instructions were kind of iffy...but since he had the experience of the Scrapbox 3.0, he managed to do a really good job. Thanks for making a good product. It sure has added quality time I get to spend creating.
The EZ View Desk is beautiful I love it!!! The only color available was black. I wasn’t too thrilled about that, because the other items I purchased from Scrapbox are white. (I like everything to match) The black is gorgeous though and I’m not disappointed. I’m thinking about giving my daughter the white DreamBox and purchase one in black.
The desk took a very long time for me to assemble. The company sent the wrong instructions with the desk. Scrapbox emailed me the correct instructions. I didn’t receive two items, Scrapbox sent the correct parts to me within a few days. Overall, I think if I were younger it would have been a better experience.
This is such a great desk. It was fairly easy to assemble, my husband did most of the heavy lifting. I put it in my library and it looks nice with my white built in shelves. I have ordered a glass top for it, as I don’t want the plexiglass to get scratched up. My EZ view desk sits on carpet and works just fine. I would love a 48” wide armoire type piece to match this one, light weight like this of course, just smaller than the Scrapbox, hint, hint!
I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!
THERE IS JUST ONE DRAWBACK. ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DESK - WHEN YOU OPEN THE CABINET AND PULL OUT THE CABINET THAT HOLDS ALL THE PLASTIC TRAYS, I CANNOT PULL OUT THE TRAYS OUT OF THE FAR INSIDE. THE CABINET DOES NOT PULL OUT FAR ENOUGH TO ALLOW ENOUGH ROOM TO PULL OUT THE TRAY.
I CAN LIVE WITH THAT BY PULLING OUT ONE TRAY AND THEN MOVING THE INSIDE TRAY TO THE LEFT TO PULL IT OUT. (I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE.)
I AM USING IT FOR A SEWING AREA AND LEAVE MY MACHINE SET UP ON THE PULL-OUT DRAWER IN THE MIDDLE. I JUST WISH I COULD FIND A WAY TO KEEP THE DRAWER OUT TO IT'S FULL EXTENT. I DIDN'T THINK FAR ENOUGH AHEAD TO KNOW THAT THE TOP OF THE DESK IS TOO HIGH TO USE AS A SEWING MACHINE STAND.
I LOVE THE AMOUNT OF STORAGE SPACE. ALL IN ALL I AM VERY, VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
Love it great storages I don’t have to go back and forth to do or grab something just
It’s wonderful but instructions were often vague and incorrect pieces sent us all over town looking for replacements. Inability to find right pieces led to use of screws that makes it impossible to ever take this apart for moving. Please take a look at instructions and hardware before shipping. Has me worried about assembly of DreamBox
I would take a second look at the directions as they need to be perfected. Some of the information is vague and not in the right order. Also the hardware needs to be identified by number/letters some of the screws are so similar it is hard to tell what is the correct one.
I love my EZ View Desk!
I do multiple types of crafts and this is PERFECT for holding everything. No more totes all over the place in different sections of the room.
